1
Peter Thompson and I exchange books and these are two he sent me recently. The one on your left, he wrote because a Brisbane girl from Clayfield becomes a heroine, and the one on your right is a memoir of Peter’s amazing life editing the biggest newspaper in the world in London, and living in Mayfair for the last 50 years.

Six young Brisbane Courier-Mail reporters in 1964 who called themselves The Third Man team. When they met, they would grab hands and hum the theme music from The Third Man. This is the wedding of two of them, Peter Thompson and Stephanie Bright. From left: Best man Bob Macklin (St Lucia), who wrote The Battle of Brisbane with Peter; Bill Richards (Clayfield) who ended up on the London Sun while Peter was on the London Daily Mirror; Bob Cronin (Mt Gravatt) who became editor of The West Australian; Stephanie Bright (Clayfield) who was London correspondent for News Ltd papers in Australia; Peter Thompson (Annerley); Hugh Lunn (Annerley).
Peter Thompson wrote The Quest For Freedom about how the first prime minister of Russia, Alexander Kerensky, fell in love with a Brisbane heiress and moved to Brisbane.
Brisbane girl Nell Tritton makes her debut before going to Europe and meeting the first prime minister of Russia, Alexander Kerensky, saving him, and bringing him back to Brisbane.
