Hey Hughie. As usual I’m way behind with reading-so I’m doing the post- Christmas catch up. Thank you for shining the light on Sir Don - now if you recall my guess at lunch the other day of ‘100’ was closer than I thought! A great point you make about getting to know someone well through reading - so true. You are to writing as Sr Don was to cricket as far as our family is concerned. Looking forward to the Chappell read. Keep up with your wonderful memoirs!
Yes Blake I nearly choked on lunch when you got the Bradman average almost exactly right -- I thought you wouldn't get anywhere near it. How wrong I was.
Talking about Ian Chappell...or not talking about him as you did on the plane.....my very English Mum and Dad came to visit us from the UK. My Dad , who back then was more often than not disgusted with the English cricketers' performance...came home from Kenmore Village one day gobsmacked. He had spotted Ian Chappell eating an icecream. I remember Dad's comment at the time was perhaps the POMS should eat more icecream...boom boom!

Never mind, both of those Chappells were world champions -- and no doubt they bth ate ice cream.
Hugh
