I just love your stories Hugh. A real time waster, I can't stop reading your work. These are names I remember although I don't think I have read any of their work. Many thanks. Monica Bubb
That's a lovely compliment Monica. Please keep reading, there' more coming soon. And pass the word on about my site to anyone who you think might also like these short stories.
Not only was this highly enjoyable it’s an important chapter for the Australian Literary Archives. As I read it I wondered how our refined “southerners” coped with so much talent loitering in Queensland, and having the ability to edit, make or break them? To see the enduring friendships speaks volumes. Thank you.
You have stumbled on to one of the reasons I write these stories ... to show that Queenslanders should not be so overlooked in their impact on this nation.
As soon as they have to move south they are written up as "from Sydney".
I should have added what one reader emailed me direct:
"So much talent and so many good stories in one article, Hughie. A real feast for the journo/author. Loved every word. "
