Swimming in Ekibin Creek? Must have been downstream somewhat. Where Earl Street stopped at the creek it was maybe knee deep. Still deep enough for a flattened corrugated iron canoe. On the slope leading up to the quarry edge, a small 'cave', hand dug? Went in just once, red-back spiders.
Cold milk? After we moved to Tennyson the McGrath dairy was 300 yards away. Milk from the cows came into an adjoining room to an overhead stainless steel tank. From there it trickled down over refrigeration coils into 15 gallon cans. Not seperated, not pasteurized, not homogenized, just chilled raw milk. Tasted great.
Change of subject. I seem to recall seeing the name "Peter Arnett" in one of your earlier pieces. It shows up in "War In The Shadows" by Robert B. Asprey, "Australian Correspondent". (1975. Book 2, page 1221)

Magnificent! What a pleasure to listen to your recording. No doubt, the sale of copies of your book must have gone up as a result of your radio podcast.
Superbly read in a soothing voice. I think I recognized Helen's voice giving the introduction. If so, well done, Helen.
Amazing how those first 3 years of Ken's life seem to have formed his character.
He was a rascal in his early days and remained so during his successful tennis playing days. You captured him well.
A good one.

This is hilarious. What a great childhood climbing trees and games with the neighbourhood kids and roaming free. Not so great the father with a stick.
