I have no idea which year it was, but on an ant bed court at Milton I was eliminated in the second round. Oh well.

I was reminded of that in 1969. Barimba, Borneo held a village chess tournament. Again, eliminated in the second round.

Keep 'em coming mate, each episode stirs long forgotten memories.

Graham, I once played in a tennis tournament and was eliminated 6-0 6-0 in the FIRST round! You did well at tennis and chess.

That was why Fletch was such a champion — there was only one player in the world who could beat him — Rod Laver — and they hadsome epic battles.

From memory, I'd just done a two week "Tennis Coaching" camp, National Fitness Council, at Tallebudgera Creek. Bitumen courts. Also encouraged to use of some of the equipement: parallel bars, roman rings, and a rope stretched between two trees, about 10 feet off the ground.

Interesting - your reply came in about 10 minutes ago. In California it's 10PM, Monday, May 5. A 16 hour difference puts it at 3PM Tuesday, May 6, for you. (I'm having a 'discussion' with a bank in Australia at the moment. Their "working" hours overlap my "waking" hours for just 6 hours a day. Makes for slow communications.)

(Just checked my mental arithmetic. There's a webcam on the river just below Breakfast Creek, yup, 1508.)

Billy, People don’t remember now how important the mixed Doubles was. Frank Sedgman won it and Rod Laver won the Wimbledon mixed TWICE! That’s why I write — so these things will not be forgotten.

Thanks for your encouragement re The Great Fletch recordings. If this was done i America or at the ABC there would be a staff of hundreds. Here, it’s just me backed up by my wife Helen.

I well remember my primary school where classes were 60 kids, but 100 boys in a room does not bear thinking about. And I can understand too that the nuns were way scarier than the brothers - and they had added sarcasm worked to a fine pitch!

Dear JLB, you summed it up saying how the nuns would use sarcasm to put you in your place., Hugh

Listen on your computer.

What happens when you click on the triangle in the circle in the middle of the picture?

Do you hear anything?

If not, does your computer ever make any sounds?
