the Mackay and Bradman stories are great reads and put a human face to the names. Thanks Hugh for providing a testament to these men, in such fine style. Your writing is like a crisp cover drive.
Maybe that's why I never had a crisp cover drive John. So I could leave cricket to others and concentrate on writing about it. I love your phrase "put a human face to the names" -- I guess that is what I try to do without realising it.
Thank you very much Hugh for such a wonderful story about Slasher. I was , only recently, telling my grandchildren about him. Thank you also for the story about Brian Buggy. I followed him at Holland Park convent and then at Terrace. He was always regarded as a good bloke. I think that as a young chap he played in a band at the Pelikan Tavern in the Valley . It was good to know how his life turned out.
That is a warming story from our past, giving us all a boost just when we need to believe there is hope again. Your hero's doggedness and persistence is a beacon, showing us that it is worth "sticking to your guns".
Hugh, your title is so very true when we remember one hero we can tend to forget other heroes
The way you tell the story was excellent

An Oval was named after Slasher see Ground section https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toombul_District_Cricket_Club

Thanks Helen, I think doggedness and persistence are the two qualities we all need to survive anything that comes at us. Slasher showed the way,
Hugh
Thank you Aunty Helen, I love the interpretation you put on my story on Slasher.
Maybe his doggedness should have been more appreciated in the rest of Australia.
